This is a 14 x 11 oil done on linen that was painted in a Trisha Adams’ workshop. It is hanging in the home of a friend that has many of my paintings.
This is around the area where I live. I’ve had the reference for a long time and even painted a smaller version, but it was when I cropped the reference close up that I fell in love with the scene. To me, it depicted a friend stopping by for a visit – a stranger would have parked in the lane. The piece was sold at Art at the Mill.
I was attracted to the lovely colors I saw in the barn. The chickens added some life and helped with the story. Just found out that this painting won 1st prize in a Shenandoah Arts Council show!
The reference is from Stephen Walker, who had this lovely photo in his files. I just love old farmhouses and appreciated being able to use it to make my own story. The piece was sold at Art at the Mill.
