Marketplace

This is an 11 x 14 on a canvas.

It depicts a busy marketplace. The reference was from a photo of my dad’s. It has a date on the back in the early nineteen hundreds, also noting that it was a marketplace in Ontario where my grandmother was born. Since the photo was in black and white, I used my imagination to decide what might have been fashionable in that day. The painting was sold at Art at the Mill.

Such a beautiful painting, Joani. I love hearing about the “history” behind the painting, and I think you selected quite fashionable colors, and they all work so well together in the painting. I love the shadows from the unseen trees, too.

Thank you, Terry! Yeah, I didn’t want to come up with colors that didn’t make sense.
